Description
Cassira Velthorn is an older woman in her late sixties with silver-streaked dark hair pulled back in a severe bun. Her most striking feature is her left eye—a polished sapphire that gleams with an inner light, replacing whatever she lost long ago. Her remaining eye is dark and sharp, constantly assessing, calculating, weighing.
She dresses in practical dark clothing with many pockets, and her fingers are perpetually stained with ink. A pair of reading spectacles hangs from a chain around her neck, though she rarely seems to need them.
Personality
Cassira speaks rarely and precisely. She has no patience for small talk, flattery, or lies—she’s heard them all and seen through most of them. She values information above gold, secrets above information, and discretion above all.
Those who know her well (a small number) understand that Cassira is scrupulously fair. She doesn’t cheat, doesn’t take sides, and doesn’t break her word. This makes her invaluable as a neutral party in a world of thieves and liars.
Velthorn’s Curios
By day, Cassira runs Velthorn’s Curios—a dimly lit shop in Solaris’s shopping district filled with relics, maps, and strange items collected from across Solara and beyond. She buys and sells antiques, oddities, and information. The shop is a front for her real work, but it’s also a genuine passion; she loves strange objects and stranger stories.
Adventurers seeking something “unique” often find their way to her door. She has a reputation for knowing far more than she lets on.
Story
The party visited Cassira’s shop in Session 32 - Secrets Beneath the Dragon and noticed she never touched her wares directly.
In Session 33 - The Underground Revealed, Cassira emerged from an underground passage beneath the Gilded Dragon Tavern and orchestrated the ambush that captured the party. She had them imprisoned at The Golden Grain Bakery.
