Description

The Order of the Black Star is a fanatical cult devoted to an entity they call The Black Architect, also known as the Unmaker, the Void-That-Hungers. They believe that destruction is not evil, but a sacred act: the first brushstroke upon the blank canvas of creation. Only through the obliteration of the existing world can true rebirth emerge.

The cult’s emblem is a black star with jagged, uneven points, encircled by a swirling halo of fractured stars. To outsiders, it appears chaotic and foreboding, but cultists see it as the purest truth: from the void, creation. The emblem is daubed in ash, blood, or pigments infused with necromantic energy, often at the heart of rituals or carved into the stones of desecrated shrines.

Story

The party first encountered the Order of the Black Star in Session 1, when they discovered cultists performing dark rituals with black crystals near Southaven. A dying cultist gasped the name “The Architect” before perishing.

Their investigations led them to Duskwatch Keep, where Blacksoul Silas commanded cult forces and goblin allies. Later, in the depths beneath Lusteris, the party witnessed a terrible ritual to resurrect Taelkor, during which Malrith Kelbirn, the “Starborn” and leader of the order sacrificed Ithilwen Galandel.

Most recently, Sythara, the Coiled Oracle, spoke of the cult with fury, calling the Black Star’s master “the Unmaker” and “the Void-That-Hungers.” She warned that alliance with such evil would doom all who touched it.
