The Monks of Seraphis are a scholarly order devoted to Seraphis, goddess of arcane power, wisdom, and curiosity. They are driven by an unending pursuit of knowledge, dedicating their lives to study, research, and the preservation of magical lore.
Beliefs and Vows
Members of the order take a vow to remain free of permanent attachments that might distract from their pursuit of knowledge. They cannot marry or take a spouse, though temporary relationships are not forbidden—only lasting bonds that would pull focus from their studies. The order believes that knowledge is the highest calling, and that accumulating and preserving it honors Seraphis above all else.
Role in Society
Throughout the land, Monks of Seraphis often serve as tutors, researchers, and advisors. In cities without formal magical universities—such as Fadrín, which lacks the grand academies of Solaris or Lusteris—monks frequently take promising students under their tutelage. This arrangement benefits both parties: students receive education they could not otherwise access, while the monks earn gold to fund their ongoing research and studies.
Many nobles, scholars, and aspiring mages seek out the Monks of Seraphis when they need answers to obscure questions or guidance in arcane matters.
